~Life As A Vampire~
Arms raised high above her head in the shape of a crescent moon, seventeen years old April starts to spin herself back into bat form. Her milky white arms became a charcoal black color before becoming the thin bat wings. Two sharp fangs appeared as the rest of her body grew smaller and smaller until she was as light as a feather. April was finally a bat!!! With her wings pointing down and her furry head pointing upwards, April soar into the dark night skies towards Demons’ Island.
When she finally reached the island, April turned back into her human form. Just then, she saw her two good friends Irene and Samantha!!! Irene was a fairly attractive teenage girl with a nice figure and a head full of soft bouncy brown curls. Samantha was different; Samantha had beautiful long red hair which shines in the moonlight and a friendly smile, no one will ever know that these two beautiful and sexy girls were actually vampires!!! April rushed over to them and said: “Hey gals!!! I am so THIRSTY for human nectar…” Irene replied in a low voice almost like a groan: “Do you think we are not thirsty? It’s lucky for us that the miserable winter season has finally past and fresh bloods are back in the city once again!!! I can hardly wait!”
While the two girls were busily talking, Samantha suddenly extended her sharp long nails and sank them into the sofa plump body of a nearby seagull. Its loud cry broke the silence of the night. The seagull’s screech was stopped when Samantha sank her nails even deeper and ripped out its tiny throat. Dark red blood poured out from the seagull’s broken body and onto the bird’s soft white feathers. Samantha raised the bird to her lips and started to slurp loudly. Irene distracted by the noise, reached out her French manicured hand and said:” Heh, aren’t you going to share?” Samantha drank some more before dropping the plump body into Irene’s out-stretched hand. Irene started to drink hungrily too, when she was finally done, her red full lips were stained with the seagull’s blood. “That really was good!” she exclaimed loudly.
April seeing her friends fulfilling their thirst, felt hungrier than before. She opened her mouth wide and two sharp man-killing fangs appeared from the top of her gums. She said: “Let’s go to Bikini Bay! It’s nectar time!!!”
The three of them left Demons’ Island and into Bikini Bay. As she was thinking of the fresh nectar, Samantha grinned and the tips of her fangs were visible under her lips. Irene whispered angrily:” Put in your fangs!”
Samantha shocked to hear that her fangs were sticking out, willed them to disappear. They walked further up and saw three good-looking teenage boys in a pub. The three boys were Jake, Brandon and Billy. The three girls grinned and pushed open the pub’s glass door. The moment the three girls stepped into the entrance of the pub, the three boys fell in love with them. Samantha moved towards Billy in one quick step and said: “Hi, I am Samantha and I am new to Bikini Bay. Would you mind if I sit next to you?” Billy nodded. Samantha pulls out a chair and sat beside him.
Meanwhile, Jake, admiring Irene’s fair curls, had invited her for a dance on the pub’s dance floor. April was joyfully looking at how her two good friends were doing when she realized that Brandon’s eyes were on her. Brandon spoke to her: “Umm, hi!! Would you like to be my girlfriend?” April was so shocked at the question but she agreed all the same. She had gotten herself an easy victim!! Time flew past and it was soon night time. The three girls were sorry to have to leave the three boys and go back to Demons’ Island but they were left with no choice. They cannot stay in Bikini Bay for the night with lights all around them. They each muttered a sad goodbye and left.
It was back in their coffins when Samantha thought of a dare. “Hey gals, how’s this. Let’s have a dare. The first one to turn one of the three boys into an Immortal(undead Vampire) in three different nights by taking small sips each time will win. That was when Irene piped up: “Taking sips is never enough!!! I will LOVE to drain them!! Well, what is the prize for the winner?”She added. April answered this question immediately: “The winner will get the other two boys as desserts.” Hearing this, the three vampires started laughing wickedly.
After a few days, the three girls met again in the forest at one end of the island and share their news. Irene started the conversation first:” How have you two been doing? Jake is only two steps away from becoming a vampire forever and ever!!! I already took a first sip. Only two more to go! Muhahahaha!” Samantha wasn’t upset about this and boasted: “Billy is such an easy prey and he is now totally in my grip. He will be an Immortal even before you even have the chance to sip Jake’s blood a second time. How sweet their blood is…” April remained silent as she thought of Brandon, who she has found out to be a vampire already. He had been bitten the previous year on the neck by another female vampire and is looking for preys too. So, that means her job’s done. After awhile, the meeting separated.
Each of the three vampires went to their coffins and lay down in the ancient dirt. They may seem like they are only 16-17 years old when in actual fact, they have roam in the dark parts of Earth for close to 200 years… Can you just imagine how many innocent lives they have taken? Only in their sleeping states are their danger levels the lowest…
The next day… The sun might be shining brightly outside but at Demons’ Island, tall and dead trees blocked out its bright rays all together.
The three vampires pushed up the coffin lids and slowly sat up. They gave low groans. It is another day… They slowly moved their ancient bodies. Each of them, over 200 years old, may look young and attractive, when in actual fact, their bodies were ancient. “It was a long time since I last saw my own appearance…” Samantha said sadly to Irene. These vampires may posse great looks but they could not see themselves in mirrors and any other thing. All they could see of themselves is their long shadows.
“Same here… I’m hungry. Let’s go get fresh nectar!” Irene exclaimed. “Yeah, I’m in with you.” April agreed. They exchanged grins and transformed into bats that flew into Bikini Bay. “Hey look! Bats!!” a small boy pointed at the vampire-bats and yelled. “It’s common to see bats here. They flew from Demons’ Island.” His mother explained.
The vampires flew into a deserted street and transformed back to their human forms. It’s time for work! They each walk separately and went to find their victims. April went to find Brandon.
Half a day has gone since they separated. Samantha and Billy walked to a quiet little wood. It was now night. The tall trees cast dark shadows on their faces. “Billy…” Samantha called out softly from the little tree log she was sitting on. Billy wanted to call her to go back to Bikini Bay together as it is so deserted and lonely here, but, he could not bear to do it. Samantha looks so beautiful sitting down there, the soft moonlight on her long red hair. “Billy, come sit next to me…” Samantha patted the log. Billy nodded and silently went over to her side and sat down. How romantic! Besides them, no one else was in the woods. Samantha slowly leaned against Billy’s strong and broad chest, her long hair smoothly falling over one shoulder. Billy twisted some of them around his fingers gently and bended down to Samantha. He could resist her beauty no more. She… was like a fairy princess, harmless and helpless. His soft lips brushed lightly over her forehead and high cheek bones. He planted a kiss right on her lips. Instantly, he fell into a kind of trance. He could not help it, but he found that he could not stop kissing her. Samantha’s lips finally moved away from his after what seemed like ages and moved to his soft tender neck. Billy did not want to let go but found that he does not have any energy left to do anything. His vision blurred as he felt a sharp prick on his neck.
Samantha raised her head, dark blood trickling from her twin fangs. She had given him the Mark. The mark of a victim who was chosen to become a vampire. She let out a high laugh that pierced the silence of the night and flew back to Demons’ Island.
The next day, Billy woke up to find that he was on his own bed. His head hurt and his vision remained blurred. He couldn’t remember how he had gotten back. All he could remember was Samantha’s lips, her scent, her beauty… He climbed out of his bed and walked to the bathroom to brush his teeth. While doing so, he caught his own reflection on the mirror in front of him. Could that really be him? His skin was so pale that you would not have thought it possible. His eyes unfocused, his lips purple. Could he be sick? Just then, he realized that the top button of his shirt was not buttoned up. His pale collar-bone could be seen. Then, he spotted the bruise like a butterfly on his neck.
He reached out a finger and stroked it. Ouch! Pain shot up immediately and cold sweat wetted the back of his shirt. How did that got here? He wondered. Still feeling dizzy, he decided to let his head rest and investigate the bruise later. “Samantha…” he said one last time before falling asleep.
Meanwhile, Irene was working hard making Jake a vampire too. There was no way that she is letting Samantha win the dare. Irene brought Jake to a cinema. When all the lights dimmed and eventually disappeared, Irene knew that luck was in for her. “I’m so cold…” she moaned. Jake, glad to have a chance to touch her, fell into her trap straight away. He stretched out his arm, brought Irene closer to him and hugged her. Irene grinned when her plan went on so well unnoticed. Her fangs lowered from the top of her gums and flashed threateningly in the dark but no one saw them. Lowering her head, she allowed him to touch her fair curls while she sinks her fangs deep into his pale neck. “Ouch!! Was that a mosquito?” Jake asked as his hand slapped to his neck. SShhhhhhhhhhhhhhh…..! The people in the cinema who were watching the movie hissed. Finally, the movie ended. Jake, like Billy, felt dizzy and decided to get home first. Irene gave a small wave as he go.
When Jake went home, he too sported the Mark but was too tired to care. Before he fell asleep, he felt a pair of lips press against his own. He shook his head to get a better picture of what was happening but that only blur his vision even more. He felt drained of all the energy he had as the lips refused to budge. Then, the lips moved to his neck. Overcome by curiosity this time, he managed to gather whatever little remaining energy he has to open his eyes. “Aaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh…!” he cried out as he saw the face of Irene with her two pearly fangs sticking out. Irene, shock that he had seen her for what she was, forgot that she was only suppose to take small sips and started taking big ones. Only when she had him drained of all his blood that she realized what she had done. “Noooooooooooooooooo…!!!” she cried. Jake’s eyeballs rolled to the back of his head. His skin whiter than paper. He collapsed in a heap onto the floor. Irene had lost the dare.
She flew back to Demons’ Island. “I lost the dare…” she muttered to Samantha. A smile rose on Samantha’s face. “Does that mean I’ve won?” she asked. “Nope. ^_^” Irene replied. “You would have to make him into an Immortal to win the dare.” April continued. A confident smile lit up Samantha’s whole face. “I will win. I will proof it to you gals.” She said.
Let’s talk about Brandon now. He and April met regularly now. At first, both had been surprised to find that each other was a vampire. This was what happened:
April had gone out with Brandon to the seaside. They ran after each other on the warm sand, the gentle breeze blowing their hair onto their faces. April had found Brandon the most handsome one of the three boys. His skin was pale like he hadn’t been in the sun before while Jake and Billy were tan. She gave him a hug and as he lowered his head to hug her back, she lowered her fangs and bite him on the neck. Weird!! Blood did not spurt out from the open wound on Brandon’s neck! How could this be?!
Looking up, she saw that Brandon had an identical pair of fangs. He, was a vampire too. Just like her. At first, she had been very angry at him. “How come you didn’t tell me that you were an Immortal too?” she complained. “Excused me?! How am I to know that you are an Immortal too? You don’t hang a sign over your neck that says you are a Vampire!” he replied in an equally annoyed voice.
That was how Brandon and April knew each other’s identity. Now, they are boy and girlfriend. The two of them sometime transformed into bats and flew together, side by side. Being a vampire means that you have eternal live but what a horrible life that is, April thought silently. April wished that she can lead a normal life but she can’t. Everything went wrong when she was bitten on the neck when she was 17 years-old. That time, she was so innocent! But all that was 200 years ago. The April now kills without blinking. She still hates the male vampire that turned her into what she is now!!
Back to back in the moonlight, April and Brandon sat on a tree trunk in silence and enjoyed each other’s company. This was the most they could ask for.
Enough of April and Brandon’s love life. -_- Back to Billy. Billy had woken up to find his headache slightly better. “Billy, we are going fishing today. Get up now, sleepy head ” his father called up to him. “Alright, I’m coming!” he yelled back. Dressing quickly, he went with his father to the largest river in his town and sat on the grassy bank, fishing rod in hand. The bright sun and fluffy white clouds brighten his mood and he felt loads better. Suddenly, he spotted a white figure in the clean water. It looked like a starfish. Billy raced after it and then, he realized that it was a human! He took off his jacket, shoes and socks, and jump into the river after the human. It was tough work swimming against the strong current but Billy managed it. He grabbed the human with one hand and swam to the grass bank with it. He turned it over to see the face and gave a cry of surprise. It was Jake. Or rather, his corpse. Jake was dead. His skin whiter than paper, his eyeballs sunk into his head. Billy gripped Jake’s shoulder and started to weep loudly. He could not accept the fact that Jake, his best friend, is dead. Tears like a broken bead necklace rolled down his cheeks.
That night, Billy had a hard time sleeping. He could not forget what had happened in the morning. He closed his eyes but after failing to sleep, opened them once more. Just then, a smell like vomit crept up his nose. Billy sat up on the bed and saw a figure in the shadows. Even though he couldn’t see the figure’s face, Billy knew who it was immediately. It was Jake. “Jake…” he called out. “Billy…Yes. It’s me.” Jake replied. “I came back to warn you…” he added. Billy was confused and said: “Warn me about what? And, are you alive or dead?” Jack replied: “I came back to warn you that they are all vampires. Trust no one. Especially not Samantha. And, I am neither alive nor dead, I am caught between the living and the dead…” When Billy heard the name ‘Samantha’, he immediately pricked up his ears. “Samantha, a vampire? They don’t exist!” he cried. “Believe or not, I’ve come to warn you, my friend.” Jake replied. Billy looked at his friend in the shadows. “I believe you…” he finally said. The moment these words left his mouth, Jake disappeared.
The next morning… Billy was still wondering whether Jake’s visit the previous night was real or just part of a dream. However, the smell of vomit confirmed his guess. Jake had been here… He remembered what Jake had warned him. That Samantha and the rest are vampires. Billy looked at the dark bruise on his neck, it seems worse than ever. This had to be the work of a vampire. Billy decided to find the vampires and kill them no matter how attractive they are.
He set off for Demons’ Island that night. Bats are everywhere. The tall trees cast shadows on everything. Billy was frightened but he vowed to destroy the vampires. He had found out that the only place vampires could be found is on Demons’ Island (that is if they really exist) so he had come to try his luck. In his left hand, he carried several thick wooden sticks, each with a sharp point. In his right hand, he carried a torch light and a lighter. These are the only tools to protect him from the vampires.
Someone had told Billy that in the night, vampires sleep in coffins but he couldn’t see a single coffin anywhere! Just as he was about to give up, he saw what look like a small edge of a roof. It was surrounded by wild thorny roses. Billy push his way through them, not flinching at all when the thorns cut his arms and leave them bleeding.
After sometime, he managed to see the whole house behind the wild roses. It was so old that the roof looked as if it was about to collapse any time now and dust and cobwebs covered anything in sight. Mustering up all his courage, Billy lit up his torch and pushed open the ancient old doors. In the room lay three coffins. Yes! Billy silently thought. He crept towards one and lifted up the lid. Inside laid Samantha, as beautiful as ever. The tips of her fangs were sticking out. “Must be thinking of drinking my blood…” Billy muttered, shivering slightly with fear. He raised one of the wooden sticks he had brought and placed it a few centimeters above Samantha’s heart, ready to pierce it down any moment. Just then, Samantha’s eyelids flew open. “Billy…” she called softly.
Billy’s heart remained unmoved as he remembered that what he was facing was not a 17 year old beautiful girl but an ancient creature, a monster. He raised the stick again. Samantha sat up and climb out of the coffin, moving closer and closer towards him. A smile hung on her face but it was not a nice smile. “Now that you know what I am, I will no longer hide the truth from you.” Saying that, she lowered her fangs totally. BANG!!! The lid of the coffin next to Samantha flew up. Irene crawled out and stood next to Samantha. “You… You are a vampire too?!?” Billy could not believe what he saw. He had already been surprised to know that Samantha was a vampire but now, knowing that Irene was a vampire too was too much of a shock for him. “Does that means that April… April is a vampire too?” he asked, hoping that it wasn’t true.
“It is true…” Samantha replied, her voice sweet like poison. As she spoke, she walked closer to Billy. Billy, terrified, backed away from her. He held the wooden stick in front of him for self-protection. Irene just grinned at his poor efforts to protect himself and snatching the stick from his shaking hand, she snapped it in half with a loud SNAP!. Billy had not expected them to do that. Irene had the strength of a superhuman. She and Samantha exchanged a look that clearly says: “Fresh blood. ATTACK!!!” Both of them rush at Billy at the same time. Billy was terrified. Just as Samantha’s long nails reached out for his throat, he pulled out a new wooden stick and raised it in front of him. Samantha saw it too late and ran straight into it, the stick piercing where her heart should be.
Samantha opened her mouth to scream but before she could do that, her whole body crumbled onto the ground and she became no more than a small pile of ash, fluttering in the wind. PLOP! PLOP! Her two eye balls landed on the ground, staring accusingly at him. That was all the evidence left to show that Samantha had once walked on the surface of Earth. 1 vampire down, 2 more to go, Billy silently thought.
Irene who had been petrified when Samantha was reduced to a pile of ash now rushed at Billy, her fangs flashing angrily. Long sharp nails grew from her finger tips. She slashed them at Billy and left 5 long bloody scratches on his arm. Billy still could not accept the fact that this creature attacking him was once shy Irene. Then, he remembered Jake’s words. He finally realized that Irene was the one who had killed his best friend.
Forgetting all his fears, he lighted up the lighter, the flames glowing brightly in the dark, and rush up to Irene. “Aaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh…!!!” she yelled in fright as her curls caught fire. Billy once again witness the end for this vampire too. Wrinkles appeared on her smooth face as she began to age. Her curls turn white and fell to the ground like slimy worms. She too, became just a pile of ash. Billy kicked the ash up the ground. His job was not done yet.
One last coffin. April’s coffin. Billy walked slowly towards the coffin and lifted up the lid. In it lay April. Her milky white complexion make her look so innocent. Her warm brown eyes now closed. She had done him and his friends no harm. Should he kill her and stop the generations of vampires from going on?
Billy did not want to kill April but after thinking of all the people whom she might have killed just to fulfill her need of blood and all those innocents which she had turned into vampires, evil creatures like herself, Billy felt that he must killed her before she killed a lot more people.
He stuck a wooden stick straight into her heart. April remained in the same peaceful position, not even screaming in pain. Billy stared at April; the stick would have taken her life and transformed her to a pile of ash! How come nothing’s changing? April remained as she is, pure and innocent. Is she really a vampire? Billy suddenly became afraid. Could the vampires have lied to him? Could April be just an average human and not a vampire after all?
Billy took one last look at April’s body lying peacefully in the coffin and backed off slowly. He was suddenly afraid that he had killed an innocent human. Shivering, he turned and ran away from Demons’ Island.
The next day, he woke up and received a call from his friend, Brandon. Billy hadn’t seen him for awhile. They met at Pizza Hut. “Long time no see.” Billy grinned at his friend. “Yea…” Brandon replied absentmindedly. “Umm… Do you believe in vampires?” Billy suddenly asked. Brandon looked at him and replied by nodding his head slightly. “You do?” Billy couldn’t believe it. Just then, their pizza arrived. Brandon took a pizza knife and held it over the pizza. While cutting the pizza, he accidentally sliced his finger.
Brandon showed no sign that he was in pain. Billy stared at the deep cut on his finger. No blood oozing out. He finally got it. “Brandon… you… you… You are a Vampire too aren’t you?!?” he cried out.
Brandon answered his question by lowering his fangs. “Help!! Somebody please help!! This guy is a Vampire!” Billy yelled to the people in Pizza Hut for help. That was when he got the shock of a life time. All of the customers stop whatever they are doing and lowered their fangs. They are all vampires, every single one of them. “No!!...” Billy cried out. They started to surround him. At that instant, April walked in.
“I thought you were dead?” Billy yelled in shock. April smiled at him. “You wished me dead didn’t you? Sorry to disappoint you, but I am as alive as you are.” April threw back her head and let out a high laugh, her fangs visible in the moonlight. She waved an arm at the vampires around and together, they bowed and said: “All hail the Vampire Mistress! All hail the Vampire Mistress!” Billy stared at April. “Is that why you did not die when I stabbed your heart? Because you have more power?” Billy asked. April shook her head.
She pulled her black cape from her shoulder, exposing her pale back. WHOOSH!!! Her nails extended to form sharp claws. She digs them into her back where her heart was and removed the flesh covering it. Billy stared in horror. He knew that there will be no blood but the whole process was so gross! Where her heart should be, there was only a hollow hole. April, had no heart.
Seeing the startled look on Billy’s face, April smiled grimly and ran a hand over her wound. Immediately, it healed. She fastened her cape back and looked at Billy. Seeing the cold look in her dark pupils, Billy knew that his end was near. April rushed to Billy and sank her fangs into his neck.
Billy did not struggle. He did something surprising. He gripped April’s shoulder and slammed her hard into the wall opposite him with superhuman strength. April looked up in shock. Billy was not human, no human will have such superhuman strength.
As if reading April’s thoughts, Billy answered her in a cold voice: “You may be a Vampire Mistress but I am a Demon Prince. This is your territory as well as mine…” He gave a spine-chilling laugh.
“Are you DarkSoul, son of Darkar, the Demon King?” April asked, her voice shaking slightly. “What do you think, my little April. Haven’t you felt my power?” he sneered. “Join me or perish!” he added.
Just like that, the Demon Prince gained control over all vampires from that day onwards and together, they doom Earth.
